Vote NO on extending this Sales Tax, November 4th!
The economic half cent sales tax has been now with us 13 years. Unfortunately we have precious little to show for it, other than a lot of empty land and a lot of empty promises by GoTopeka. We also have a GoTopeka CEO Doug Kinsinger who is paid more than the US President! $406,000 in 2013 to be exact, according to IRS 990 forms he swore to and signed. Originally GoTopeka promised the voters of Topeka/Shawnee County that they would Add 14,000 net jobs in 5 years. We actually lost 4,000 jobs in that same time frame! Over the 13 years Topeka/ Shawnee County citizens have paid this tax we have lost a net of over 9,000 jobs! That is not progress! Additionally the oversight by the politicians has been cozy and totally ineffective. Only a few real new jobs have been created but we have spent $65 MILLION DOLLARS. A hand full of people have made a lot of money on salaries, land sales, or contracts and fees that are not being made transparent to the public. Don’t be a lemming and Go off the ‘tax and spend’ cliff Shawnee County…Vote NO on extending this Sales Tax, November 4th!
